August 2007
The HPECA's 4th Annual General Meeting & Highland Pony Study Day was held in Gilmanton, NH on August 11, 2007. Our hosts, Leif & Mary Ellen Erickson of Varney Hill Farm, and their friends & neighbors, Bob & Debra Coburn, coordinated a beautiful day spent with Highland Ponies.

Varney Hill is home to Highland Ponies Circle H Glengarry, Circle H Glenfiddich, Sharian Primrose, MacCrimmon/Gunn Andrew, and Kerrera Jeanie.

The day consisted of the HPECA Annual General Meeting, a presentation by Leif about nutrition & hoof care, lunch, followed by a riding demonstration with ponies at Ethan Allan Farm.

At our riding demonstrations, Debbie started with Kerrera Jeanie doing an obstacle course.

Next, Andrea & Glengarry strut their stuff including side-passes, while Leif & Glenfiddich look on.

Andrea & Leif decide to ask their ponies to do the bridge obstacle too. Not much fuss from anyone.

Then - totally unplanned - Andrea & Leif switch tack & ponies. This was the first time that Andrea rode Glenfiddich & first time Glenfiddich had been ridden by anyone other than Leif!
Our riding team happy & very pleased with their ponies.

The crowning achievement: a carrot cake decorated with blueberries to look like the Scottish flag!!
