Highland Pony Breeders in North America

Picture
CIRCLE H HIGHLAND PONIES-

We breed the finest Highland Ponies in North America. Our breeding stock is originally from the Highlands of Scotland, with full pedigrees.

Ann Armann is the owner of Circle H Ranch and takes a keen interest in the care and raising of these fine animals. This is especially true because the six brood mares came originally from her family farm near Inverness, Scotland, and are continuing the Coulmore line of ponies here in North America.

The pedigrees and breeding practises of our farm emphasize a wide gene pool and ensure the ponies are of the best possible parentage.

Our ponies live on a 630 acre ranch, on land that is maintained and farmed without pesticides or chemicals. For pictures of our animals for sale please click on ponies.

MCCLELLAN HIGHLAND PONIES-

We imported A'Bhaisteir of Talisker (Fergal) who was foaled in May of 2005 as our foundation stallion, he received his stud license in 2008. He carries the old department bloodlines on both his Sire's (Corriegarth Rhidorroch) and Dam's (Lyncrests Monique) side.   Rhidorroch has sadly passed away, leaving Fergal as one of only two intact stallions descended from him.  Luckily Fergal inherited his sire's gentle disposition.

We purchased Fionchoire of Talisker (Flo) who flew from England in December 2008.  Her Sire is Grouse of Langley, her Dam is Princess of Dykes.  She settled in very well considering she was a month in transit!
Since then Fergal and Flo produced two stunning filly foals for us, Hamara of McClellan and Samhradh of McClellan.  In 2015 he sired a colt with Ceol Beag Fiaray

TRINITYGLEN HIGHLAND PONIES-

Trinityglen breeds the traditional type of Scottish Highland pony, using classic Champion lines.  The ponies make excellent children's mounts for low level hunter/jumpers, combined training and dressage.  They are brave, bold and have a heart of gold.  They love to drive, be it driven Dressage, pleasure or combined driving.

Our goal is to produce Highlands that are suitable for a variety of levels and disciplines to satisfy the amateur to professional competitor, as well as pleasure rider. I have looked and acquired stock that will excel in dressage, low level three day eventing, children's and a/o jumpers, pleasure driving, combined driving, as well as breeding stock, and trail riding.

Trinityglen Highland Ponies wants to assist in the preservation and promotion of this amazing pony.  We want to educate the equestrian community here in North America about this incredible native breed.  In doing so, we have attended numerous expos, Celtic Fairs, as well as competitions that include in hand, ridden, driven, and competitive trail.  The ponies have excelled in whatever venture we have performed in.  They have impressed competitors and spectators alike.

We have Circle H Glen Livit at stud.  He has won multiple championships in hand as well as under saddle in both Mountain and Moorland shoes, as well as traditional shows in Nevada and California.  We also have two up and coming stud prospect our of imported bloodlines.  We do have young stock occasionally available.

MacCrimmon Stud
Presenting MacCrimmon Andrew

Andrew stands 14 H, out of imported stock.  He is one of only a handful of approved breeding stallions currently standing at stud in the USA.
This beautiful yellow dun stallion is an athletic mover, gentle and willing in temperament and stamps his style on his offspring.  Recently pinned as champion at hand and under saddle at major shows, Andrew features a dorsal stripe, zebra leg markings and a sumptuous mane and feathers that fly as he shows off his grace and power.

Breeding to other purebreds or crossed with breeds such as Arabians and Thoroughbreds, this stallion will create a superb fox hunter, dressage, low level eventer or all around pony for adults or children.
MacCrimmon Andrew is currently standing at stud in Harwood Md. AI is a possibility. Stud fee is $750 + mare care.

Baroque Farm Rare breeds

We have been in native ponies for over 15 years. We started with Dales ponies after having Spanish horses, and recently imported 2 Highlands, a colt, and a filly. Our wish is to help endangered UK breeds as Anna has close ties to the UK both with ponies, and time she spent there while growing up. We looked at Highland ponies 20+ years ago, but could not find what we were looking for, so we started with Dales until the right Highland pony came along for us.

We decided to import to bring new lines into the US. Our first imports are yearlings. They were imported April of 2018. The colt Smoo is a light mouse dun who hales from Rhum breeding as well as mainland lines from Nashend Buzzard and Balmoral Dee to mention a few. Our filly, Lucinda, a yellow dun is a daughter of Glenmuir Lochaber who has produced some lovely show ponies, and who himself was a show winner. Her dam Ivy was also a show winner. We have 2 other Highlands making their way to the US late fall.

We hope that our farm will help to produce outcrosses for ponies already in the US. Our goal is to breed Highland ponies that have good natures, traditional looks, and good movement. We strive to be active in public education of the native UK breeds as well as within our breed associations.
